Denver Fences Building Permits
Every township in Denver has slightly different regulations. Usually the fence permit is required for construction of a new fence, replacement of the
existing fence with a different type or height of fence, or replacement of the large sections of fence. Please, check with your city.
Building Permit Cost The building permit fee varies, check with your city. Besides the fee some cities charge a percentage of the cost of the job.
Drawing of the PropertyMake sure to bring a written estimate and a drawing outlining your property:
- Property lines, with dimensions
- Adjacent streets and alleys
- New location of fence on the property and its dimensions
- Distance between buildings, between buildings and property lines, between the fence and the streets
- Property address and North arrow
Again, each city is DIFFERENT. Make sure to inquire about specifications for the fence building permit sketch needed. In some cities it might take several days to get a permit approved.

Severe weather damages might be covered by home owner's insurance. Often it is cost to replace the fence less depreciation. Your deductible will also apply.
